Studio Policy
Our Philosophy: We believe in the power of music to enrich the
lives of both children and adults. We also believe that everyone should
be given the opportunity to develop their creative and musical abilities
in a positive learning atmosphere. Group piano instruction has proven to
be a natural and effective way to learn to play the piano and develop an
appreciation for the beauty of music.

Instrument requirements:
While it is not mandatory to have an instrument in the home to begin
lessons, we strongly believe that a well tuned, quality, acoustic
piano or quality digital piano to prepare for each lesson is
critical for each student’s development. Because portable keyboards
have proven to harm the technical and musical development of the
beginning student, they are not recommended. If you do not have an
acceptable practice instrument in your home, please inquire about
our student piano rental program and starter pianos.
-
Tuition and Payment:
Tuition may be paid in a lump sum at the beginning of each term, or
may be divided into 9 equal monthly payments due at the first lesson
of each month. Monthly tuition covers lessons from September to
May. The tuition payment remains the same regardless of how many
lessons are received in the month. Each student is guaranteed to
receive a total of 34 lessons (17 each term). Summer lessons are
charged separately. Tuition is non-refundable.
-
Other fees/materials:
There is a
$25.00 annual registration fee. Books and other materials are not
included in tuition. Your teacher will let you know what is
required for your class.
-
Attendance:
Missed lessons should be avoided if at all possible to ensure the
growth of the student and the teamwork of the class. There will be
no adjustments in tuition if a student cannot attend. Lessons
cancelled by the teacher will always be made up or credited. Please
let your teacher know if you are planning to be gone, as there may
be another class that you could attend that week.
-
Holidays/Vacation
Weeks: The
Piano Gallery & Valley Keyboards School of Music follows the
standard school calendar. The following holidays/vacation weeks are
built into the schedule:
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Week
Christmas/Winter Break
Spring Break
Memorial Day
Piano lessons are like a triangle--it takes three sides to make a
successful musical experience. The student, parent and teacher must all
work together; hence, cooperation and communication between all parties
is essential. Please feel free to discuss any questions or concerns
regarding the musical education of your student with his/her teacher.
